D. Submit Your Statement of Interest

Please have your Statement of Interest (SI) prepared using the instructions in “C Guidelines for Preparation of Statement of Interest” prior to beginning the proposal submittal session. You do not have to submit your SI and Biographical Data forms at the same time. You may log back into the system and submit these forms any time before the deadline. However, you will not be able to edit any information once entered or PDFs have been attached and you have clicked “Next.” For this reason we strongly encourage you to read all supporting information and follow the directions below.

SUBMISSION: To submit a Statement of Interest, go to the Florida Sea Grant home page (http://www.flseagrant.org) and follow the link to "Call for 2012-2013 Biennial Research Grant Proposals.” Read all of the instructions and follow them carefully. The principal investigator and the Florida Sea Grant office will receive a confirmation email when your Statement of Interest has been received. Please do not wait until the last day to submit your Statement of Interest or Biographical Data forms; the process may take longer than you anticipate.

The ten steps to completing and submitting a Statement of Interest are:

  1. Read all (A) funding and proposal information, (B) priorities for 2012-2013 and (C) guidelines for preparation of a Statement of Interest and Biographical Data forms.
  2. Download the Statement of Interest and Biographical Data forms. Complete those forms off-line. Remember your Statement of Interest must be five pages or less.
  3. Access the SI submission web page, fill out the required data fields and click add. You will then receive your unique four-digit SI number. Important: Please write down the password you created and the four digit SI number that you received. You will need this to add additional investigator's biographical data forms.
  4. Add the information for any additional investigator's on your Statement of Interest. Click next.
  5. Enter the proposed budget information remembering there is a 50% match required. Click next.
  6. Enter the four-digit SI number on your Statement of Interest (first heading on the form) and the biographical data sheets that you and your colleagues completed off-line. Additional biographical data sheets may be uploaded prior to the February 18, 2011 deadline using the password that the PI created during the initial submission. However, your statement will not be considered if the Statement and all biographical data forms have not been submitted by the deadline.
  7. After entering the SI number you received, convert the SI and biographical forms to a PDF format using Adobe Acrobat.
  8. Select the option for “Attach PDF.” Repeat for multiple biographical data forms.
  9. Click “logout” to end a session. You may log back in using the four digit SI number assigned to your Statement and password you created at any time to complete your submission.
  10. You and the Florida Sea Grant office will receive an email confirming receipt of your Statement of Interest.

Deadline for receipt of Statements of Interest and all biographical data forms is February 18, 2011 by 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (no extensions).

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions about the guidelines or submittal process.
